MIDDLE-BELT: "We Want To Be On Our Own And Not Part Of The North” – Sen. Jonah Jang

Jonah Jang Senator Jonah Jang, former PDP presidential aspirant and governor of Plateau state, stated that the middle belt needs to be on its own and not regarded as the north Senator Jonah Jang lamented that northern Christians are being oppressed in the north, adding that the people want to be separated from the Hausa-Fulani. According to him, the northern Christians want to be under a different regional identity known as the middle belt. Speaking to Daily Sun in an interview published on Saturday, January 23, Jang said the ethnic minority from the middle belt should be given the opportunity to produce the president in 2023. Jonah Jang kicked against the rotation of the presidency between the north and the south and instead advocated that the middle belt should be included among the regions to benefit from the rotation of the nation’s number one job. PLASU Strike: Only Payment Of 50% Of Our Unpaid Allowance Will Make Us Return Class – ASUU TO STATE GOVERNMENT.

  The Academic Union of University (ASUU) PLASU chapter has on Tuesday said only payment of 50 per cent of their unpaid N215 Million allowances will make them return to class. The All Farmers Association of Nigeria(AFAN), Benue State Chapter has refuted claims by the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong that farmers also bear AK-47 riffles like the armed Fulani herdsmen. Governor, Simon Lalong during a programme on Channels Television recently, accused farmers of carrying arms against the Fulani herdsmen. Reacting, a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of AFAN, Aondongu Saaku and the Association’s PRO, Benue State Chapter, Anthony Onu Ogbole, described the accusation as an insult on members. PLASU Gets New Pro-Chancellor

  The Governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, has appointed Prof. Obiora Ike as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Plateau State University, Bokkos. The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr John Agam, and made available to newsmen in Jos on Monday. Ike is a Professor of Ethics and Intercultural Studies at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu State and Chairman of Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee. He is also currently the Executive Director of Global Ethics Centre, a Geneva-based international network for ethics. The new pro-chancellor takes over from Prof. Attahiru Jega, whose tenure had expired about two years ago, thus leaving the university without a governing council since then. The governor also announced the appointment of seven others as members of the council.   Following the recent Constitution of the High Powered Committee by Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State with the mandate to amicably tackle and resolve funding, welfare, staffing, pension, gratuity, promotion and other Sundry issues raised by the four staff Unions of the University, agreements were on Friday signed with two of the Unions after useful negotiations, understanding and resolutions were reached. Speaking shortly after signing the agreements in Jos with the Non Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, Plateau State University Bokkos, Chapter and National Association of Academic Technologist’s of the University, Chairman of the 7man High Powered Committee, Izam Azi commended NASU and NAAT for their understanding and cooperation which led to the timely, speedy and amicable resolution of the issues in contention. Dan Manjang said the state has sourced N29 billion from the capital market to fund the Lalong Legacy project aimed at improving the living standard of Plateau citizens.   The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos’ Chapter, has said that they would not return to lecture halls without any concrete Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the state Government. Bird Flu: Plateau Depopulates 5 Poultry Farms In Jos

The Plateau Government has depopulated and closed five poultry farms at Dong Community in Jos North Local GovernmentArea of the state. The steps were taken due to the outbreak of Avian Influenza, popular known as “bird flu”.Dr Shase’et Sipak, the Chief Veterinary Officer in the state, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Jos. According to Sipak, the decision to depopulate the farms came after samples taken from them tested positive to the pathogenic disease. He explained that birds from the farms were also killed and buried, adding that the farms have also been quarantined. “On Jan. 26, we got information about a suspected outbreak of bird flu at a particular farm in Dung. “We went to the farm, took samples and forwarded it to the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) for confirmation. “While we were investigating, other farms in the area were also infected. “On Feb. 2, all the results came out positive. “We immediately went to the five farms, depopu

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Yohana Daniel Izam who paid an inspection visit to the hostels and other project sites in the institution expressed satisfaction with the renovation work on the facilities which will greatly enhance the achievement of the COVID 19 guidelines for the safe reopening of schools. PLASU SUG Pleads With ASUU To End Their Ongoing Strike in the interest of students. .. .calls on government to settle ASUU their Earn Allowance The leadership of Students Union Government (SUG) and NAPS had met with ASUU officials on Monday 8th, February to plead with ASUU to suspend the ongoing strike in the interest of students considering the state of things. ASUU in the same vein, appreciated the leadership of students and promised readiness to call off the strike any time government improves on their demand.
