NUJ Condems Mangu Attack; Commiserates With Victims And Government Of Plateau State

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council, has expressed deep concerns and sadness over the recurrence of unwarranted attacks and killings of innocent citizens in Mangu Local Government Area. The Council commiserates with the people of Mangu, the government, and the people of Plateau State over these unfortunate incidents, which led to the loss of lives and destruction of property. The union is concerned that despite its reportage and programmes promoting interreligious dialogue and peaceful coexistence, the state is portrayed as a conflict zone, which puts it in a disadvantaged position globally. The Council therefore urges the federal and state governments to scale up efforts towards restoring peace in the affected areas through programmes and policies that provide good and inclusive governance for the growth and development of society. Sequel to the genocidal attacks on some communities of Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of plateau state on the Eve of Christmas 2023, which left no fewer than over Hundred of innocent persons gruesomely massacred in their homes by Fulani Militias, the Christians in the state has issued a Ten Points demands to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for perusal and urgent implementation. Appeal Court Managers Lacks the Sensitivity to Manage the Appeal Court – Amb. GY Gotom

The Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the just recently concluded 2023 general elections in Plateau State, Amb Golkuna Yohanna Gotom, has faulted the judgment of the Appeal Court delivering judgment in favour of Diket Plang of the All Progressives Congress APC, saying the managers of the Appeal Court lacks the sensitivity to manage the Appeal Court. Amb. Gotom stated this in his Rayfield residence of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau state. He said: "Why will you tell me that my lawyers wrote their own petition in 40 pages and you disregard the entire judgment saying that it should've been 25 pages.
