Gangare, Dilimi, Congo Russia Communities Risk Cholera Outbreak Due to Poor Sanitation Exercise

The Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has warned that several communities in Jos North Local Government Area are at risk of cholera and other epidemics due to citizens' blatant disregard for environmental sanitation. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, PEPSA officials conducted a monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state. However, in communities such as Gangare, Congo Russia, Dilimi, and Angwan Rukuba, many residents failed to participate, instead continuing with their daily activities. Food vendors, tricycle operators, and pedestrians were among those who ignored the exercise, posing health risks to themselves and others. In Gengare community, a bread and tea vendor was arrested for operating his business amidst stagnant water and heaps of garbage.
