BREAKING: PLATEAU STATE POLICE COMMAND, ARRAIGNS IN COURT, ALLEGED TERRORISTS, WHO ATTACKED COMMUNITIES IN BASSA LGA OF PLATEAU

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Plateau State Command has arraigned one Yau Idris, Adamu Buba, Abubakar Abdullahi, Yusuf Ibrahim, Isah Husseini, Abdulkadir Sani, Abudullahi Adamu and Yahaya Inusa, over allegations of Terrorism, Kidnapping, Criminal Conspiracy and attacks in some communities in Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State at the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos.

The 8 suspects, arraign before the Plateau State High Court today, 13th May, 2022, included a Chairman of Mayetti Allah in Bassa LGA, were arraigned in Court on a six (6) Count Charge, to which they have pleaded “Not Guilty."

On the face of the Charge Sheet, the counts include, criminal conspiracy, mischief, terrorism, culpable homicide, collaboration of traditional rulers or community leaders, and kidnapping, with all punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code 2017 and Anti Land Grabbing and Kidnapping Law 2020.

According to the particulars of offence of Count1, which relates to Criminal Conspiracy, an act contrary to the Plateau state Penal code Law, the Police stated that, “On or about the 11th of March and 22nd of April, 2022, at about 0100hours, at Jebu, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did commit an illegal act, to wit:- Criminal Conspiracy, when you agreed among yourselves while armed yourselves with AK-47 Rifles, invaded the houses of one Benard Akoh (m) and one Nicodimus Datip (m), install fear, carried away and holds for ransom, one Gloria Akoh (f) and one Nicodimus Datip (m) which the sum of Two Hundred thousand Naira (N200,000.00) and One Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,700,000.00) was given to you as ransom before their respective release and in furtherance to your agreement, you shot one Benard Akoh to death. You thereby committed the above offence”.

On count 2, which is related to Culpable Homicide punishable with death, contrary to section 186 (A&B) and punishable under section 189 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law 2017, the particulars of the offence, stated as follows:- “That, on or about the 11th of March 2022 at about 2030hrs, at Jebu, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did commit an illegal act to wit: Culpable Homicide, punishable with death, when you armed yourselves with AK-47 rifles, invaded the house of one Benard Akoh and shot him to death. That you had knowledge that death of the deceased is the probable consequence of your action. You thereby committed the above offence”.
