Just In: 11TH COCIN VICE PRESIDENT INDUCTED.



The eleventh (11th) Vice President of the Church Of Christ In Nations (COCIN) has been inducted amidst cheers, in a Church service held at the COCIN Hqtrs Church, Jos, which coincided with this year's Choir week.

Performing the inauguration, after being presented by the Chairman of the incorporated Board of Trustees, Rev. Prof. Soja Bewarang, COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Musa Mohzo, tasked the new Vice President to be proactive in discharging his duties and prayed for his success.

Speaking on politics, Rev. Dr. Mohzo, challenged politicians, to play the game accordingly, and adviced everyone eligible, to go and register, and obtain the voters card, as its the only weapon to be used to vote for credible candidates.

Responding, in an acceptance speech, the new COCIN Vice President, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan, promised to work in synergy with the leadership of the Church and promote Unity, as the cardinal principle, and theme of the Church.

Rev. Dr. Nwan equally promised to offer himself as the principal advicer to the COCIN President and commended the efforts of the Founding Fathers and Missioneries whose sacrifices has made the Church what it is, today.

On integrity, Rev. Dr. Nwan said, he can not compromise his standard, and promised to be faithful, transparent and accoutable in all his dealings with the Church and his office affairs, and to uphold righteousness.

Quoting one of his former lecturer, in USA, Rev. Dr. Nwan said, the lecturer once told them in class that, "when you lost wealth, you lost nothing, when you lost health, you lost something and when you lost integrity, you lost all", therefore, the need to join hands and work as a team, to build a strong and united Church.

There was goodwill message from the governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Lalong, represented by the deputy governor, Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, who cautioned the political class, to emulate the Church, in its electoral processes, which, according to him, is more transparent and without rancour or letigation.

Others were the former COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Musa Gotom, who sort for the Church leadership to emulate efforts of the founding fathers, Rev. Assoc. Prof. Benjamin Pokol, while Rev. Dan Ponchi preached on the topic, "The decision that makes or marr...".

Taking his text from the book of 1 Samuel 16:6-7, Rev. Pochi (rtd) spoke extensively on the need for the Church to be obedient to God in everything, as failure to do that, will only put the Church in trouble.

He equally warned leaders, not to put Church members under unnecessary pressure that will make them grumble, rather, should make them offer willingly, which attracts blessings.

It would be recalled that, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan was elected at the 101st GCC meeting, as the eleventh (11th) Vice President of the Church, after the following predecessors:
