Hon Amalau Samuel Amalau, Executive Chairman of Bokkos LGC, Mourns the Gruesome Murder of Pastor Joseph Amis
The Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, alongside his Deputy, Hon. Walangko Mahwel Joseph, attended the funeral service of late Pastor Joseph Amis of Kawel Fwanding, Mushere, whose tragic and untimely death has left the community in mourning.
The loss of Pastor Joseph Amis is deeply felt across Mushere, Bokkos, and Plateau State as a whole. A devoted servant of God, Pastor Amis was not only a spiritual leader but also a beacon of hope for his community. His murder by unknown gunmen on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, has left the people of Bokkos heartbroken and seeking justice.
During his condolence visit, Hon. Amalau expressed profound sadness over the tragic loss, describing it as a devastating blow to the land and its people. He pledged to work tirelessly with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice. “We will not relent until justice is served,” the Chairman affirmed.
Late Pastor Joseph Amis, born on April 6, 1972, dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity. After accepting Christ on November 5, 2005, he served in various capacities within the COCIN Church. He was a family man, married to the late Mrs. Lydia Amis, and was blessed with five children. His dedication to ministry and the community will forever be remembered.
At the funeral, Hon. Councillor Antipas Daskyakar, representing Mushere North, expressed concerns about the urgent need for improved security measures to protect communities. Similarly, Hon. Luka Yavuruk, Chief of Staff to the Council, and Hon. Haruna Dariye, representative of former Governor Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye, emphasized the importance of proactive and strategic security actions.
The Commissioner for Works in Plateau State, Hon. Adams Bulus Lekshak, called for peace and unity among communities, stressing that only through love and mutual respect can the cycle of violence be broken. “Let us embrace peace to enable growth and prosperity in our land,” he said.
The funeral service, led by Rev. Meshack Mangals, offered spiritual comfort to the grieving family and community. Reflecting on scriptures such as John 14:1-2 and Romans 8:34, he reminded the congregation that God is aware of their pain and will never forsake His chosen.
Hon. Amalau, on behalf of the Bokkos Local Government Council, expressed gratitude to the Plateau State Government for their commitment to improving security across the state. He called on Governor Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang to sustain his efforts in ensuring peace and stability, particularly in Bokkos, urging the people to trust in God’s justice and divine plan.
The funeral concluded with prayers and rites, honoring the memory of Pastor Amis and committing the land of Bokkos into God’s hands. “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm,” Hon. Amalau reiterated, invoking divine protection and guidance for the land and its people.
