Jos Hosts Leadership and Entrepreneurship Conference for Youths
Over 100 undergraduates and youths gathered in Jos for a leadership and entrepreneurship conference organized by Diamond Dreams Foundation.
The conference, tagged "LEAP" (Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Action, and Purpose), aimed to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen careers and become positive contributors to society.
Dr. Emma Collins, founder of Diamond Dreams Foundation, explained that the initiative was born out of a desire to help young people discover their purpose and direction in life. "We want to help young people avoid the mistakes we made when we were growing up," she said.
The conference featured a lineup of experienced facilitators, including Hon. Bonkam Wuyep, Director-General of PLASMIDA, who spoke on empowerment. Wuyep emphasized the importance of adopting a mindset shift, focusing on creating jobs rather than waiting for white-collar employment opportunities.
Other facilitators included Dr. Ulan Jatau, who shared her personal experience of starting a business at a young age, and Niken Chuwang, who emphasized the importance of solving problems and creating value in entrepreneurship.
In a surprise move, Hon. Wuyep announced that he would be offering 100 free scholarships to participants for further training on entrepreneurship and empowerment.
The conference was hailed as a success, with participants praising the organizers for providing a platform for young people to learn and grow.
As one participant noted, "This conference has been an eye-opener for me. I've learned so much about leadership and entrepreneurship, and I'm excited to apply these skills in my own life."
