IZAM ATANG AZI DESCRIBES PPA'S MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD AS THE BEST PARTING GIFT.



Mr Izam Atang Azi mni, the immediate past Plateau State Head of Civil Service has described the Meritorious Award presented to him by the Plateau Publishers Association (PPA) as the best parting gift, very important, and honourable parting gift.

Azi made this assertions when the Board, Executive and Members of the PPA presented a plague of honour to him on his 60th birthday celebration, thanksgiving service and reception at the Langfield Leisure Park, Little Rayfield Jos on Sunday 28th March, 2021 before a mammoth crowd and elaborate ceremony.

The celebrant thanked the Executive Governor of Plateau State and the Chairman Northern Governor's Forum, His Excellency, Rt Hon Barr Dr Simon Bako Lalong KSGG for giving him the opportunity to serve humanity and the good people of Plateau State.

He was full of praises and commendation for the PPA for their roles in Information dissemination. Azi equally appreciated all those who made the event the huge success that it was and all those present.

In his remarks before the presentation of the Meritorious Award for effective and efficient public service, the PPAChairman, Mr Shabul Mazadu,surrounded by a BOT member, Chief Amb Nanyah Andrew Daman, the Executive Council and Members said the essence of journalism is to make a better society, and that journalists use the carrot and stick approach for the attainment of such goal. According to him, those that do well get the carrot and those that do badly, the stick.

Mazadu commended Izam Atang Azi mni for stabilizing the civil service under his reign.Mazadu went further to describe the Civil Service as the engine room of Government, and any Government that is ran smoothly, has a sound engine.

The PPA Chairman posits that Izam's reign has changed the face of Plateau Civil Service and has improved the welfare of Civil Servants.

Mentioning some of Azi's feats, Mazadu said aside feom stabilizing the civil service, he has eradicated the practice of two years delay of retirees before being enrolled on pension payroll to immediate enrolment after retirement; Azi has digitalized the Civil Service, influenced promotion of deserving Civil Servants, facilitated N2bn loans from Mortgage Bank for 1900 Civil Servants to refurbish their houses, ensured steady payment of salaries, helped and brought to an end PLASU strike by academic staff, and so many others.

PPA called on the representative of Governor Simon Lalong, Secretary to State Government, Professor Danladi Abok Atu, to present the meritorious award to the out gone Head of Service.
