Abok Absent as APC Meets with Progressive Members of Plateau Assembly

APC Executive Committee on Thursday met with its members  of the Plateau State House of Assembly at the Ewarewah party Secretariat. 

 The meeting which had all the APC members of the house in attendance except the former Speaker of the House, Honourable Ayuba Abok Nuhu, was led by the Speaker, Rt Honourable Yakubu Sanda. 

 A statement signed by Sylvanus Namang, APC State Publicity Secretary made available to newsmen reads that In his address, the State Chairman of the APC, Honourable Rufus Bature who was himself a former member of the House of Assembly, expressed delight over their honouring the invitation to the meeting.

 He said he was happy that peace has fully been restored in the House of Assembly after the change of its Speaker two months ago.

 He urged them to remain focused and united as a force in order to  be able to make laws for the common good of the state and its people. 

  In his words, ''your unity is your integrity. That is why you are called Honourable members. You should be seen to be honourable at all times''.

  Honourable Rufus Bature added that they cannot be in the same party and be castigating each other.

 He commended the members for their quick passage of the 2022  budget by a majority of the members who sat yesterday. 

  He expressed happiness that the House has come back strong and advised them to work in synergy with the governor of the state in order to provide the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots. 

 Speaking further, the APC Chairman said the party strongly believes in dialogue as a means of resolving disputes. 

  He said it would engage all disenchanted parties in a heart -to -heart dialogue as he believes in  the restoration of total unity in the party.

 He said the party would not tolerate acts of indiscipline or anti -party activities of any kind from its members.

 Honourable Buture revealed that the APC in the state, believes in reward system and would introduce competition among the wards especially with regards to membership registration. 

 He also revealed that the state exco would soon embark on a tour of all the 17 local Government Areas to get a first hand view of their challenges.

  He said the party exco would be operating from the party office which is a clear departure from the past and would soon invte all APC members in the National Assembly and other stakeholders for similar dialogue. 

 The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Yakubu Sanda who spoke after all other members had taken their turns  which bothered mostly on unity and cohesion in the party, commended the Chairman for convening the meeting. He praised his effort in repositioning the party since coming on board in less than two months. 

 He observed that the party has come alive with the office bubbling with activities. 

  He assured that the members of the House would continue to interface with the party .  
 "When you call us, we will always avail ourselves as the party is supreme," he said 

 Honourable Yakubu Sanda said he is confident that with the current kind of synergy and collaboration, the APC government would install another APC  governor in the state in 2023.

 A one minute silence was observed in honour of the  Member of the House, Honourable Henry Longs who died recently.
