Councilor Trains over 200 Teenagers In Various Skills acquisition, Gives Start up Packs
The Deputy Leader Jos North Legislative Council and councillor representing Garba Taho ward in Jos North Local government of Plateau state, Hon. Auwalu Baba Ladan at the weekend empowered over two hundred people of his ward.
The beneficiaries mostly Women, youths of young people of primary and secondary school age have been trained in Cosmetiology, as well as given take off grants upon graduation to begin their businesses respectively.
The councillor who said programme which is the empower his people to be self sustaining took the beneficiaries through an intensive training which lasted for three months learned various skills including body creams, Shampoo, chocolates, Bournvita, among other things, running to over N3m.
They the beneficiaries on their part commended the honourable member for his determination to live up to his campaign promises, and encourage other elected representatives to emulate the spirit
Speaking at the occasion, former speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Azi, a female member of the Plateau state house of Assembly, Esther Duusu and the Chairman, Jos North Local government council, Hon. Shehu Bala eulogies the councilor for setting pace for others to follow.
They encourage the beneficiaries to make best use of the opportunity to better their lives, saying, it is not the volume of money that makes one successful in life, but proper planning.
The Chairman also used the opportunity to caution the youths against indulging in social vices that will caught their lives short, saying the council will not hasitate to use its powers to deal with any individual or groups whose stock in trade is to causing social disharmony in the metropolis .
He said the APC government under the leadership of Goveror Simon Bako Lalong has laudable programmes that will benefit women and youths , but such can’t be achieved without peaceful coexistence among the people.
On his part, Chairman Civil Liberty Organization, CLO, Comrade Steve Aluko, who spoke on the topic, “Democracy, Empowerment and Development”, he commended the councilor for realising very early to embark on programmes that will empowered his people.
Stressing that democracy which is about the people, said any democracy that is not centered on people, or is not people driven it is not worth to be called democracy. ” the best infrastructure that is sustainable is about the development of the people”.
He added that, the empowerment programme initiated by the councilor, cutting across the youths and teenagers is very remarkable, and encourage other elected representatives to do same.
He however appealed to the people to always support good leaders like Hon. Ladan to bring out their very best.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of an excellent award to the councillor, Hon Ladan, as well as certificates to the graduands and other assorted gifts to sporting groups within the Locality.
