PKN South bye Election: Ezra Dakup of the APC Receive Certificate of Return







The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday March 10th, 2022 in Jos, Plateau State, presented a Certificate of Return to the just concluded Pankshin South Constituency House of Assembly bye election to Hon. Ezra Dakup who emerged victorious. 



It would be recalled that Ezra Dakup of the All Progressives Congress, APC, won the Pankshin South Constituency bye election held on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, to field in the vacum created over the demised of late Henry Longs.



Speaking shortly after receiving his certificate of Return, the House of Assembly Member elect said: "This victory is the voice of the people. This Victory, I dedicated it to the people of Pankshin South and my teeming supporters. The victory is a call to duty and I'm going to work towards that to ensure that the lives of our people are better than it were before" . He said.


He further enthust: "The win is dedicated to all. There's no way you'll not have people that are aggrieved so in this case, the first point of call is for me to reconcile the aggrieved and to chat a course forward".

Asked what should the people of Pankshin South State Constituency expect from his representation, the incoming Lawmaker asserts: "You know the journey of a thousand miles start with a step. After reconciling with the agreived, every other things will fall in place and then we will work towards 2023 elections as well". He pointed out.


Before presenting the certificate of return to the House of Assembly Member elect, the Plateau State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Halilu Pai, congratulates and called on the Member elect to carry everyone along irrespective of party affiliation. He equally charged him to perform optimally based on the confidence reposed on him by the people of his constituency.
He also commended IPAC, and security agencies for maintaining law and order during and after the bye election.


In the same vein, Hon Rufus Bature, Plateau State APC Chairman said that APC is going to carry everyone along. He charged the member elect to deliver for the people of his constituency for them to benefit the dividends of democracy. He also reminded the opposition parties to always know that in a contest, "You win some and you lose some". He urged them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship. He added.

Personalities who graced the presentation of Certificate of Return, include APC Chairman Plateau State Chapter, Hon Rufus Bature, Silas Vem, Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor, Sylvanus Namang, state APC Publicity Secretary, amongst others.
