NIPSS DG VISITS SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN JOS METROPOLIS, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT




The Director-General of the National Institute Prof. Ayo Omotayo yesterday Wednesday 13 April 2022 paid a courtesy visit to five secondary schools in Jos metropolis. The schools visited include: Government Science Secondary School, Kuru; Government Science Technical College, Bukuru; Government Secondary School, Hwak Kuru; Government Secondary School, Kanadap; and Berom Community Secondary, Kuru.

The DG, who was accompanied on the visit by some management and senior staff of the National Institute, reiterated the importance of education in nation-building. He, therefore, pledged to support the secondary schools in the provision of quality education, adding that all hands must be on deck to build a better society.

PLSG Clarifies Temporary Suspension of Artisan Mining in the State

According to Mrs. Joyce Ramnap, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, said government has only temporarily suspended artisan mining activities to address pressing security and human rights concerns. The suspension, which was implemented through Executive Order (001), aims to regulate artisan mining activities and ensure the safety and well-being of miners. The government cited several reasons for the temporary suspension, including insecurity challenges, child molestation, and the proliferation of mining activities that have led to deaths in mining ponds.
