2023 Plateau South Senatorial Race: Youth Group Endorse Gov. Lalong
Political pressure group under the Aegis of Southern Progressive Youth Forum(SPYF), has massively endorsed the governor of plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for the Senatorial bid.
Speaking with newsmen in Shendam, the coordinator of the group, Mr. Yenna’an Julius Lutgun in a statement made available to Newsmen, said governor Lalong is a politician with unbridled loyalty, commitment, and soundtrack records on the plateau.
“The decision to endorse governor Lalong was taken after overblown consultations with the leadership and groups across the six local governments in Plateau South Senatorial District.”
The group also promised to support Lalong to gain a victory in the forthcoming election, saying he has all it takes to contest and win the election based on his track records and experience as former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, governor and lawyer which has attracted development opportunities for the zone and State at large.
“We have agreed to queue behind governor Lalong because of his posture on issues pertaining to development of the country.”
“He added, “Gov Lalong has impacted positively on the lives of our people, and we call on all lovers of peace to support him irrespective of party affiliation in other to benefit from his wealth of experience and varied contacts.”
Lalong is a household name in Plateau South senatorial district, with a strong grassroots appeal that has helped and sustain the party’s victory come 2023.
The statement further reads,” Lalong has impacted a lot in his immediate Constituency through various developmental initiatives”
“If elected, Lalong would leverage his goodwill and wide contacts to promote the socio-economic development of his people.”
He added “the entire youth groups, women groups, party Stakeholders as well as the other members of the party who were well comfortable with the sterling performance of the Governor who has resuscitated relative peace on the Plateau, achieved massive construction of schools, roads, and hospitals across the 17 local government areas of the state, as well as completing other projects that have a direct bearing on the masses.
