2023 Presidential Race: Peter Obi, Yusuf Datti of LP, Storm Jos as Its first State to Flag-off Campaign



The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, have arrived in Jos, Plateau State.

Obi through his personal handle revealed that they are in Jos and will be first meeting with the Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM. Da. Jacob Gyang Buba, and stakeholders of the Middle Belt Forum.

Scooping from his Twitter handle Obi said; “Arriving Jos with Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to meet with Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM Jacob Gyang Buba and also honour the invitation of the Middle Belt Forum to a solidarity rally."

"We continue to call on the FGN to end the ASUU strike and allow our children to go back to school." He further added.

Gangare, Dilimi, Congo Russia Communities Risk Cholera Outbreak Due to Poor Sanitation Exercise

The Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has warned that several communities in Jos North Local Government Area are at risk of cholera and other epidemics due to citizens' blatant disregard for environmental sanitation. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, PEPSA officials conducted a monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state. However, in communities such as Gangare, Congo Russia, Dilimi, and Angwan Rukuba, many residents failed to participate, instead continuing with their daily activities. Food vendors, tricycle operators, and pedestrians were among those who ignored the exercise, posing health risks to themselves and others. In Gengare community, a bread and tea vendor was arrested for operating his business amidst stagnant water and heaps of garbage. Flood Control: PEPSA kick-off Drainages distilling in Jos and Bukuru Metropolis to Curb Flooding as Raining season Approaches

Ahead of this year's rainy season, Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), has kick started drainages distilling within Jos and Bukuru metropolis to mitigate flooding that may likely occur. Speaking during the official flag off in Jos city center on Tuesday, Director General of PEPSA, Samuel Dapiya revealed the yearly routine exercise of drainages clearing is part of the agency mandate actualization of keeping Plateau clean. The DG represented by the agency's director of administration, Izang Pate said the exercise is very key as it will go a long way in curtailing the scourge of unforseen flooding and water borne disease.
