2023: Wike, Makinde, Ortom Shun PDP Campaign Inauguration



Governors in the camp of Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday boycotted the official inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council.

They include Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Wike.

A good number of party leaders perceived to be sympathetic to the Wike’s camp also stayed away from the International Conference Centre, Abuja venue of the inauguration.

However, the remaining PDP Governors loyal to the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar attended the event.

They were: Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa); Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto).

Also absent from the event was the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. The Deputy National Chairman (North), Umar Damagum who stood in for him, said Ayu’s absence was as a result of ill health.

Gangare, Dilimi, Congo Russia Communities Risk Cholera Outbreak Due to Poor Sanitation Exercise

The Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has warned that several communities in Jos North Local Government Area are at risk of cholera and other epidemics due to citizens' blatant disregard for environmental sanitation. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, PEPSA officials conducted a monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state. However, in communities such as Gangare, Congo Russia, Dilimi, and Angwan Rukuba, many residents failed to participate, instead continuing with their daily activities. Food vendors, tricycle operators, and pedestrians were among those who ignored the exercise, posing health risks to themselves and others. In Gengare community, a bread and tea vendor was arrested for operating his business amidst stagnant water and heaps of garbage. Flood Control: PEPSA kick-off Drainages distilling in Jos and Bukuru Metropolis to Curb Flooding as Raining season Approaches

Ahead of this year's rainy season, Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), has kick started drainages distilling within Jos and Bukuru metropolis to mitigate flooding that may likely occur. Speaking during the official flag off in Jos city center on Tuesday, Director General of PEPSA, Samuel Dapiya revealed the yearly routine exercise of drainages clearing is part of the agency mandate actualization of keeping Plateau clean. The DG represented by the agency's director of administration, Izang Pate said the exercise is very key as it will go a long way in curtailing the scourge of unforseen flooding and water borne disease.
