Our Aim is To Persuade Politicians to Offer Good Governance to the Common Man– Gokas
In it's quest of building a working relationship between a common man and the politicians in government for providing good governance, a Non Governmental Organization, Myrole Aid Mission was on Tuesday January 3rd 2022, organized a programme with a theme tagged “2023 And the Quest for a better Plateau”.
The event took place at Crest Hotel and Gardens, Old Airport road, of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau state amidst pomp and pageantry.
The Convener of the event and board of trustee Chairman of Myrole Aid Mission, Mr Solomon Gokas, said the purpose of organizing this conference is because of lack of good governance that we're having on the plateau and the nation at large.
He said we discovered there's a lot of things that are lacking and which we feel is important to discuss some of these issues here and to see how we can sort it.
He added that: “As I said it earlier before the programme start, I'm just like an agent between government and the common man on the street. I hear the cry of the common man and organized the event and I called the politicians to come and listen to what the common man is talking about. And I believed with so doing, you'll understand that this is what the common man want and this is what is supposed to be done”.
“After that I believed we'll make use of all the mechanism to monitor or measure the activities of governance and to reminds the politicians about their promises they made to the common man after one year in office. This program is going to be annual programme and whosoever emerged as the governor of Plateau state, will still come back here and tell us what he has achieved in one year and that's the main aim of organizing this programne and the primary assignment for this kind of conference is to have a good governance”. He said.
Keynote and paper presentations at the event were delivered by Prof. Yohanna Izam, Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University Bokkos, His Royal Highness, Rev. Dr Isaac Azi Wakili, Adagwom Izere of Jos East, Prof. Aboi Madaki, President PIDAN, Dr. Sumayya Hamza, Plateau state coordinator NSIP.
While discussants at the programme were Plateau governorship candidates, Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum of LP, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, APC and Barr. Calep Mutfwang of PDP.
The event also featured award presentation to some personalities who have impact positively in the society.
The recipients of the award were Dr. Samuel Anko, Chairman/CEO Samuel Anko & Co. award in alleviating widow and the less privilege citizens from poverty and starvation, Alh. Abubakar Sadeeq, award on philanthrophy especially by providing portable water to vulnerable communities amongst others.
