My Role Aid Mission Holds its 2nd Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony, Unveils Magazine

My Role Aid Mission, a non profit organisation on Thursday October 26, 2023, held its 2nd annual lectures and Awards with the theme “Plateau State: The Past and Present Future”.
The lecture and unveiling of the Magazine was held at the Crest Hotel and Gardens, Old Airpprt Road Jos.
His Royal Highness the Mishkaham Mwaghavul Da John Putmang Hirse the President of the Mangu Traditional Council of Plateau State represented by the Barde Mangu, Chief Musa Paul thanked the organisers of the noble programme aimed at finding solutions to problems confronting the state.
Delivering his Keynote address at the event with the Topic “Plateau Element”, was Dr. Tanko Ahmed a fellow of the War College, Nigerian Defence Academy NDA, urged Plateau citizens to unite irrespective of tribal or ethnic differences to move the state forward.
In her paper presentation, Mrs Helen Dabup who also doubles as the Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Board spoke on gender inclusiveness in governance for diversity noting that women were better placed to understand the needs of society considering their role as mothers and home builders.
Another paper presenter Dr Obadiah Samuel from the University of Jos who spoke on “Peace and Security” traced the history of crisis on the Plateau while proffering solutions to same including synergy among Security agencies, establishment of mobile police barracks, strengthening of vigilante groups such as the “Operation Rainbow ” resettlement of Internally displaced persons among others to enthrone lasting peace.
Discussants at the series were the GOC 3 Armoured Division and Commander Operation Safe Heaven (OPSH) Maj General Abdulsalami Abubakar represented by the Deputy Commander, Iyua T a Deputy Commissioner of Police listed the gains of the OPSH such as restoring relative peace, the neutralisation of bandits and the arrest of bandits.
He also said the new Commander has initiated various stakeholder meetings with affected communities in crisis areas while urging citizens to assist in fishing out bad eggs in the society as security was a collaborative job of all to make the state safer.
Chief Kefas Ropshik Wungak the CEO of Kefiano Motors, Abuja a prominent politician on the Plateau and philanthropist observed that Plateau State was an investment delight if all indices are put right and only needed a secure a safe environment to thrive and expressed optimism will take its rightfull place as a leading state in Nigeria going forward.
“My Role Aid Mission” magazine was later unveiled by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission Rev Yakubu Pam represented by Rev. Choji, who expressed happiness at the quality and topical issues in the magazine and what the organisation is doing to change the socio political and economic landscape of Plateau State.
Awards were presented to deserving individuals among whom was Amb.Dr Ibrahim Nanpon Dogonyaro who received the Award for”Alleviating the Poverty of less Priveleged Citizens in Society “.
Nanpon Dogonyaro said “I'm not the one to blow my trumpet. Usually it is people that see what you're doing and decide to honor you. I didn't even know much about this organisation and founder but apparently, they've been following what has God been using me to do and this is not the first organization that has bestowed similar awards like this on me. I don't have much, but from the little that God has giving me, I'll try as much as possible to give back to the community”.
Speaking on the sidelines of the occasion to journalists the convener and Executive Director of “My Role Aid Mission “ Engr. Solomon Gokas disclosed that this was the second edition of the event as the initial one held on January 3, 2022, even as he admonished government and non state actors to embrace the insights offered at the fora for the development and progress of the State.
Gokas further said the series will get bigger and better with time and will expand to engage more stakeholders in the Plateau project irrespective of religious,ethnic or party differences across all divides.
