Keffi Old Students Association Gets New National President




The Government Teachers' College Keffi Old Students Association (KETCOSA), was on Saturday November, 11th, 2023, held its National Congress and convention to elect new hands that will pilot the affairs of the Association for the next two years.

The National convention and the Inauguration of the newly Executive Council (EXCO) was held at the Bridge Ville Hotel and Suites, opposite Hill Crest, Jos, amidst pomp and pageantry.


Delivering his farewell message at the national convention, The outgoing national chairman of the association, Alh. Abubakar Shehu Usman, who was ably represented by the deputy national chairman, Mr Emmanuel Neeyum, said due to some circumstances beyond the control of the outgoing national EXCO, the convention could not be held in November, 2022 adding that the circumstances include the preparation of 2023 general election, heightened insecurities in the northern part of the country and the paucity of funds due to non payments of annual subscriptions by members for the period of 2020 and 2022 respectively.

He said the EXCOs had to go cap in hands to solicit for funds to enable this year's Jos 2023 National Convention.


He called on the KETCOSA members for the progress of the association, they need to be up to date in payments of annual subscriptions as no serious organization will function efficiently without funding.

He thanked the KETCOSA members for the confidence reposed on him and his EXCO officials by electing them in November, 2019 and equally wished the newly inaugurated National President and his EXCO officials a successful tenure to pilot the affairs of KETCOSA to the greater heights.


Chairman of the occasion, Chief James Barry, urged KETCOSA to work towards the restoration of Government Teachers College Keffi. He called on members of the association who have connections to facilitate on the building of KETCOSA secretariat to serve as a meeting point for members.

He said KETCOSA has produced prominenent sons and daughters in the society thereby, urging members to be brothers keepers to assist the upcoming members of the association in any way they can and to continue to pray for peace to thrive in the country.


Barry commended the outgoing EXCO of the association under leadership of Alh Abubakar Usman for conducting the 2023 national convention.


Guest speaker at the event was Naomi Embaga.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated National President of KETCOSA, Chief Capt. Donny Dung Fom rtd. appreciated KETCOSA for the privilege given him to serve as the president of the association adding, "with your cooperation, we can take this association to the greater heights. We can be a voice to be heard, a force to reckoned with and we can together make a difference".

He assured the members of the association that the EXCO under his watch, will always be open for suggestions and available for necessary guidance and support stressing that a house united is able to withstand and foe.
He he pleaded with the members to put aside any differences and distractions aside to forged ahead adding that together, through synergy and commitment, we will soar up like eagle and reach greater heights.
The newly inaugurated KETCOSA EXCO officials were;
Chief Captain Donny Dung Fom (rtd) National President, Abdullahi Aliyu Agwai, National Vice President ll, Azever Nongo Michael 1st Vice President, Dr. Idris Muhammad Ladan, National Secretary Genral, Miskoom Salihu Ibrahim Gayam, National Assistant Secretary.
Others are, Lami Wambutda JP, Financial Secretary, Aishatu Musa Umaru, Treasurer, Longzem N. Sallah PRO, Aminu Umar Gaya, Assistant Secretary, Tahir Salisu Idasho, Welfare Officer, Shuaibu Adamu Ribi, Assistant Welfare Officer, Barr. Alex Adama, Legal Adviser.
Chief Joseph D. Gimba as Ex- officio member, Emmanuel Neeyum, Ex-officio member and Ishiaku Danstoho Ex- Officio member respectively.


Goodwill messages at the event came from Musa Dangana Giza, Chairman Civil Service Commission, Nasarawa state, Major General Iliyasu Abbah rtd, former Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force, Ndjamina Chad, Pro. Keziah Absalom faculty of Natural Sciences Department of Zoology of the University of Jos, Dr. Muhammad Lawal, President Certified Institute of Management amongst other top dignitaries.
