Education: We'll Soon Publish the names of Illegal and Registered Private Institutions on the Plateau – Kachollom Gang

In its effort of improving the standard of education and to counter the proliferations of illegal institutions in the state, the Plateau State Ministry of Higher Education, has organized a one day sensitization meeting with the proprietors of private institutions meant to sanitize the private Tertiary institutions operating in the state.

The meeting between the Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Kacholom Gang, Directors and Mannagement of the Ministry with the proprietors, was held at the minisry's conference room, JD Gomwalk Secretariat, in Jos, on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, is purposely meant to sensitize the private operators of schools on the need to have all private tertiary institutions registered.

Gang said Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration is committed to quality standard of education in the state hence the need to monitor the activities of operators to ensure they keep to guidelines and adhere to rules and regulations for good and quality education.

The Commissioner reveals that over 150 tertiary institutions are operating in the State but laments that most of them have not been registered with the Ministry calling on the defaulters to adhere strictly.

She said the need to have the schools properly registered comes on the hills of innocent students who pertronised such some illegal and unregistered schools only to discover that the certificates they obtained are not recognized and cannot be admitted for employment by any Government anywhere.

The commissioner further warns that the Ministry will soon publish names of both illegal and duly registered tertiary institutions to guide parents and students to avoid wasting resources and time in studying in the wrong institutions.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Sadiya Yero, said the ministry's door is open to partner and assists all the private institutions in the state emphasizing that the ministry is working hard for the right thing to be done interms of registration and interms of who and who is supposed to be employed and who is qualified to teach in a tertiary institution.

She said we have seen students that have graduated from the Universities that cannot write simple formal letter because there are a lot of proliferation of private schools that are not even checked and we'll not watched that happen on the Plateau.

Some Proprietors who were at the sensitation programme, hails the ministry decision for taking the bull by the horn and promised to abide by the rules and regulation of operating institution in the state.
