JT Useni: Prof Dakum’s Empathy and Mounful Condolence Message
It was with a great shock, grief and empathy I received the devastating news of the passing away of one of Plateau's and Nigeria's rarest, finest and greatest epitomes of hard-work, patriotism, ingenuity, sagacity and benevolence, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni whose death ensued yesterday, Thursday 23rd January, 2025.
Useni was a venerable elder statesman, political juggernaut, stakeholder nationally and sub-nationally, multipotentialite, phenom and philanthropist per excellence, whose life of charity earned him the nickname 'Baba Mai Tuwo'.
The legend has meritoriously and enormously contributed to nation building in the capacities of governor of defunct Bendel State under Major General Muhammadu Buhari led Military Junta, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District; and gallantly fought in keeping Nigeria one while in the Army in the sixties.
In the Democratic front, Useni actively participated in advancing the course of democracy in a distinct and multiple fronts both at the state and national levels since the advent of the Fourth Republic till he passed away.
I hereby on behalf of myself, family, consolidation for Greater Plateau, friends and well-wishers, not only grief but commiserate with his family, Taroh nation, Plateau State and the entire nation over the huge and irreparable loss.
May the Almighty God comfort and grant us the fortitude to bear the loss, and may his soul rest in peace.
Signed:
Prof. Patrick Sunday Dakum
CEO IHVN and Plateau State Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections
