Shabul Mazadu's Best Publisher of the year 2024 Draft Competition: KC Emerges Champion in Jos Metro
Kenechukwu Nnamani, fondly known as the People's Champion, emerged victorious in the Jos Metro Draft Group tournament, held in honor of Shabul Mazadu, the esteemed publisher of The Beacon Newspaper and recipient of the Plateau State Best Publisher of the Year 2024 award. This thrilling competition brought together 24 district champions from various parts of the metropolis, with the final showdown taking place at Bukuru Lowcost Junction, Jos, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The People's Champion, a multifaceted individual who has served as a councillor for Tafawa Balewa Ward, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, and currently operates as the CEO of Purple Heart Construction Company Limited, expressed his profound gratitude and ecstasy upon winning the tournament. He emphasized that the victory was not solely about him, but rather a collective achievement, highlighting the significance of the draft game as a unifying force that transcends individual triumphs.
Nnamani further noted that the draft game is often misconstrued as a pastime for irresponsible individuals, but he countered this notion by pointing out that he, as a managing director of his company, actively participates in the game. He emphasized that the game serves as a platform for socialization, problem avoidance, peace promotion, and progress in Plateau State.
The People's Champion also shared his passion for the game, revealing that he has been an avid player for a long time and has even earned the nickname "the People's Champion" due to his exceptional skills. He attributed his success to his ability to concentrate and crack jokes during gameplay.
Other notable participants in the tournament included Plangshak, also known as "the Best," who secured the runner-up position, and Hirkop, popularly known as Argentina, who claimed the third prize. Both players expressed their appreciation for the tournament and congratulated the winner.
The tournament was organized to celebrate Shabul Mazadu's achievement as an outstanding newspaper publisher and active draft player. The event brought together players from various parts of the metropolis, including business tycoons, dignitaries, and individuals from diverse backgrounds, all united in their quest to celebrate Mazadu's accomplishment.
In his remarks, Mr. Isaac P. Musa, the tournament coordinator, highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it was a testament to the power of the draft game in bringing people together. He also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Patrick Sunday Dakum for providing drinks for the reception.
