GOVERNOR LALONG CONGRATULATES FIRST PLATEAU FEMALE SENATOR-ELECT, PROF. NORA DADU'UT. Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated Prof. Nora Dadu'ut candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for making history as the first female Senator-elect in Plateau State.  Prof. Nora Dadu'ut who emerged winner of the Plateau South Senatorial District bye-election defeated her closest rival George Daika of the PDP for the nod to fill the vacuum created by the death of the former occupant of the seat late Senator Ignatius Longjan. Plateau South Senatorial Bye- Election: It's for Women to Take over - Tallen The Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen has expressed joy and optimism for the possible emergence of the first female senator from Plateau State under the auspices of the APC, which is coming at a time when she's the Minister of Women Affairs. According to her, it's high time women are given more opportunities in the political space to change the course of things and serve the masses differently. Plateau South Bye-election: Hon. Komsol looks forward to working with Prof Daduut at the National Assembly, tasks Residents on Peace BY  EDITOR -   DECEMBER 05, 2020 The member Representing Mikang, Shendam and Qua'an Pan in the House of Representatives, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longap casted his vote in the Plateau South Senatorial District  bye election taking which took place yesterday in the six Local Government Areas that make up the Southern zone.  The senatorial seat became vacant as a result of the death of the lawmaker representing the the zone, Late Senator Ignatius Longjan some months ago. Shortly after casting his vote at the polling unit in his hometown of Kwafua, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State,  the lawmaker charged the residents to conduct themselves peacefully through out the election. Plateau South Bye-election: 10 Political parties Signs Peace Accord. Ahead of tomorrow's Plateau South Senatorial bye-election in Plateau State to fill the vacate seat occasioned by the death of late Senator Ignatius Dating Longjan, ten (10) political parties that filed candidates for the election signed a peace accord pact pledging their commitment towards a peaceful and violence free election.  The peace accord which was organized by Voice Out Vanguard and CPSST in collaboration with Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Plateau state chapter held at Youth Center, Shendam Local Government Area. PLSG Imposes Restriction of Movement in Plateau South District. Ahead of the Plateau South Senatorial District by-election scheduled for Saturday 5th December 2020, the Plateau State Government has announced the restriction of movement within all the Local Governments in the zone. Consequently, all vehicular movement have beeen restricted from 6am to 6pm of Saturday 5th December 2020. By this directive, only those on essential duties will be permitted to move around during the period of restriction.  The Government wishes to call on all citizens within the Southern Senatorial Zone to fully cooperate by observing this directive in order to ensure that the by-election election is successfully conducted. N2.5bn fraud: Abuja High Court discharges Dariye’s finance commissioner, 3 others 4:22 AM       An Abuja High Court on Wednesday dismissed a N2.5bn fraud case preferred against Mr Emmanuel Agati, Plateau finance commissioner when Sen Joshua Dariye was governor of Plateau State. Also discharged and acquitted were three other respondents in the 14-year-old case – Messrs Sham Damisa, Nuhu Madaki and Silas Vongbut, former Accountant General, Director of Treasury and Deputy Director, Inspectorate, respectively. Justice Adebukola Banjoko of Court V, Jabi who discharged and acquitted the quartet, said that the case lacked proof of evidence. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged the accused with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and misappropriation of funds belonging to Plateau. Justice Banjoko, in her judgement, described the case as “a wild goose chase which lacks the necessary proof of evidence to convict the four accused persons”. She consequently discharged a
