Rev. Fr. Ajang Eulogies Gov. Lalong On Elevation As Bishop On His Birthday.

 Father David Ajang, Chaplain of Government House Chapel, jos has confirmed to The Age Newspaper his elevation to the positition of a Bishop.  When the news of his appointment filtered the air TheAg in company of some Publishers of PPA visited him for confirmation the priest said  "yes, the Holy Father, Pope Francis has appointed me as the second Bishop of the  diocese of Lafiya, the first Bishop is the present  Bishop of the Arch Diocese of Jos Matthew Ishaya Audu he started the Arch Diocese about 20 years ago and today the Holy Father named me as his successor. That was officially published  in line with Catholic practices. It was published by the Pope himself 12  o'clock local time there which happens to be 11 o'clock here,  what they do after the Pope has announced it himself the others could go on air and that is when it was made public here. BHCPF Flag Off: Plateau Children Will No Longer Die Of Preventive Diseases – Governor

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has said that children in the state will no longer die of preventive diseases following the launching of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) in the state. Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has directed that appointment to the position of Permanent Secretary will henceforth be based on professional aptitude tests and examinations that are ICT based and also threatened that his administration will not hesitate to sanction any senior civil servant who fails to deliver his duty as expected. The governor who handed down the directive on Monday during the swearing-in of the new Head of Service and 14 Permanent Secretaries warned them against promoting ethnicity, religion or politicising the civil service adding that such actions will not be tolerated as the civil service was a professional calling which must remain so. JUST IN: Gunmen attack Jos airport quarters, abduct housewife Suspected gunmen on Thursday night attacked Jos Aviation quarters in the Heipang area of Plateau state and abducted a housewife. It was gathered the gunmen gained entrance into the quarters at about 8.15 pm and started shooting sporadically. A source said that three persons were kidnapped, including a wife and the husband. But the husband and other staff were later able to struggle their way to freedom with the gunmen only leaving with the housewife. Details later…

The meeting was based on strategizing how the Commission and CHAI can synergize to build a strong accessible and affordable Assistive Technology (AT) with specifications to suit individual use and make it useful to end users.  The convener of the meeting Mr. Aleshinloye Gboyega highlighted some of these AT devices are wheelchair, eye glasses, clutches, Artificial limbs amongst others.  The need for data base collection among  persons with Disabilities, development of necessary tools to revolutionised   AT assessment  and coordination was also part of the innovative discussions. GOVERNOR LALONG APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF SERVICE/PERMANENT SECRETARIES.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the appointment of Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat as the new Head of Service for the State.  This follows the retirement of the Head of Service, Mr. Izam Azi, mni, having attained the mandatory age of 60. The new Head of Service Engr. Hyat was until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary, General Administration in the office of the Head of Service.                   Sunday Hyat Engr. Sunday Chong Hyat, mni, was born on 3rd February 1963, in Ganawuri, Riyom Local Government Area. He attended Boys Secondary School Gindiri before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology Minna where he graduated with B. Eng. Civil Engineering. He has a Diploma Computer Application from the University of Jos.  He was one time Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers Jos branch, and later served as the Council Member representing North Central on the Board of COREN. Breaking: Another fuel hike looms as NNPC GMD hints on increase

                     Kyari N igerian may have to pay more per litre of fuel after the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petrol Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Mele Kyari hinted that the federal government may be forced to increase the price of petrol. Kyari who was at the statehouse during a press briefing on Thursday, said “it no longer makes sense for NNPC to import petrol at market price and sell at N162 per litre”.    He further said that the actual market price should be between N211 and N234 per litre. “As we speak today, the difference is being carried in the books of NNPC and I can confirm to you that NNPC may no longer be in a position to carry that burden,” he said.

Newly Revenue Council/PIRS Governing Board Inaugurated

T he Executive Governor of Plateau State Barr. Simon Bako Lalong today inaugurated the Revenue Council and Plateau State Inland Revenue Service (PIRS) Governing Council with a charge on them to work assiduously towards changing the revenue trajectory of the State. Lalong said they are to proffer better strategies towards improved revenue generation. He said there is remarkable decline in revenue from the federation account on account of the fall in oil price and COVID-19 Pandemic. He said the present government is target higher revenue for the State going forward as the era of dependence on the Federation Account is gone with the present depleting of same. The Governor described the event as another milestone in the journey of the State towards improved revenue generation and self-sufficiency. He said the inauguration sets the tone for the full implementation of the new Plateau State (Consolidated) Revenue Law, also known as the Revenue Law 2020, which he assented to, in November 2020.

F ormer Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah Jang on Sunday appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to grant presidential pardon to convicted Senator Joshua Dariye. Jang took over from Dariye as Governor in 2007, but the two remained political rivals till Dariye’s conviction. However, speaking at the finals of the Plateau North peace and unity football Tournament at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, Jang said “it is time for us as Plateau people to speak with one voice.” “I want to plead with Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari to grant our son, Senator Joshua Dariye pardon so that he can come back and join us,” Jang said. The former Governor was speaking on the need for all politicians in the State to emulate Senator Istifanus Gyang of Plateau North, organizer of the maiden peace and unity football tournament in the State. “We need more of such initiatives so we can identify and encourage local talents that will represent Plateau and Nigeria in local and international competitions,”

Be Vigilant, We Can’t Secure All Schools, Federal Government Tells Parents, Others

        The Federal Government has emphasised the need for Nigerians to be vigilant to end attacks on schools and abduction of students. The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who stated this in a chat with Newsmen on Monday, indicated that government could not secure every school in the country. According to him, government has directed schools to report any security threat to the nearest security agency. In the interview, the minister was asked what government was doing to protect schools from incessant attacks by bandits. He responded, “Eternal vigilance is the price for security. Every nation is always concerned about the consciousness of its people. The Federal Government cannot secure every house. Everybody needs to be vigilant.
