The oposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP, has released its timetable for campaigns ahead of the 2023 presidential election. In a timetable released by the Directorate for Organization and Mobilization, the main opposition party will kick-start its campaigns on October 10 in Akwa Ibom State. BREAKING: Appeal Court Gives FG, ASUU 24-Hours to Settle Scores

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has directed the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve their dispute amicably out of court. The Appellate Court suggested twenty-four hours for the two parties to have a rethink, sit down and come out with a resolution that would make Nigerians happy. Justice Georgewill Biobele Abraham threw the challenge when the Federal Government and ASUU appeared before him for a hearing in the appeal instituted by the union against the judgment of the National Industrial Court. Specifically, Justice Georgewill tasked counsel to the Federal Government, James Igwe (SAN) and that of ASUU, Femi Falana (SAN), to first sit down as lawyers, take a patriotic position and convey the position to their clients. Terrorists who attacked Abuja-Kaduna bound train on March 28, have freed the remaining 23 passengers who have been in captivity. BREAKING: Wike, PDP BOT Meeting Ends in Deadlock

The peace meeting between members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party and Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, has ended in deadlock. Daily Report earlier reported that both parties had entered a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday to resolve lingering differences in the party. Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Acting Chairman of the PDP BoT, Senator Adolphus Wabara, said no conclusion was reached. Wabara said; “We have not concluded. You know it is always easy to discuss. But to make peace takes sometime. “We are better informed. We have gotten some new information. Every coin has two sides. 2023 Race: APC Announces Campaign Date

The Ruling All Progressives Congress APC, has announced Monday, October 10 as the date of its campaign kick-off for the 2023 Presidential Election. APC had postponed the commencement of its campaigns earlier slated for Wednesday, September 28. The development, Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong said was to expand the campaign council list for more stakeholders. On the contrary, some reports stated that the campaign was rescheduled due to the absence of the party’s flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was away from the country. The campaign council is getting set for Tinubu’s return from London to Nigeria within the week.

Lalong Promises to Complete Jos Stadium

Plateau Gov. Simon Lalong has restated his commitment to complete works at the Jos Stadium along Zaria road. The governor stated this on Monday at the Tee-off of the Golf kitty at the Lamingo Golf Club, Jos, as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s independence day. He said that the stadium was one of the legacies he would love to leave behind at the completion of his tenure. He explained that the work on the stadium was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other economic challenges in the country. 2023 Elections: Outrage as Atiku Offers Wike 2027 Presidency

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has come under heavy scrutiny for reportedly offering to hand over power to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in 2027 if he wins the 2023 poll. The offer follows a closed-door meeting between both politicians in Abuja on Saturday, in a bid to resolve their differences. Some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, caused massive stirs when they returned over a N100 million paid to them by the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. The members in their separate letters, accused Ayu of bribing members of the party to gather support over misappropriation allegations against him. The NWC members alleged that the money was given to them as two-year house rent by Ayu. A fresh crisis is brewing in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s national chairman, Abdulahi Adamu accused Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the party’s standard flagbearer of reneging on the agreement regarding the composition of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC). According to reports, Adamu, in a letter, addressed to Tinubu, accused the latter of sidelining the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. By Jatdul Jerry The Supreme Court has affirmed the Governor-elect of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke as authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the gubernatorial election that held in the state on July 16. In a unanimous judgement by a five-man panel of justices, the apex court dismissed an appeal that was lodged against Adeleke by Prince Dotun Babayemi who laid claim to governorship ticket of the PDP, having emerged from a parallel primary election that was held by a faction of the party in the state. Adebayo Adelodun, SAN, Counsel to the Appellant, withdrew the appeal after the panel led by Justice Amina Augie, drew his attention to the fact that the case was statute barred.

Governors in the camp of Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday boycotted the official inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council. They include Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Wike. A good number of party leaders perceived to be sympathetic to the Wike’s camp also stayed away from the International Conference Centre, Abuja venue of the inauguration. However, the remaining PDP Governors loyal to the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar attended the event. They were: Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa); Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto). Also absent from the event was the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. The Deputy National Chairman (North), Umar Damagum who stood in for him, said Ayu’s absence was as a result of ill health.

2023 Race: Ortom Breaks Away From Wike, Kicks Against Ayu’s Removal

Ortom noted that it is impossible for him to advocate the removal of someone he helped to appoint. Ortom’s statement contradicts that of his close friend and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his allies, which he was a part of. The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Plateau State, is enmeshed in a crisis following the announcement by a former governor of the state, Jonah David Jang, that he was pulling out from the campaign council of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Jonah Jang alongside other party members, loyal to Governor Nyesom Ezonwo Wike, on Thursday, pulled out of Atiku’s campaign team, following the refusal of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign his position, to pave way for someone from the Southern part of the country to replace him.
