The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has bowed to Pressure from Political parties to extend its deadline for Primary elections. The commission has extended the deadline by 6 days. A statement from the commission signed by Festus Okoye on Friday evening read; "The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met with the leadership of political parties today Friday 27th May 2022. Once again, the political parties requested the Commission to review the timelines for political party primaries provided in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the conduct of the 2023 General Election released on Saturday 26th February 2022.” Earlier, the political parties had requested for 37 – 60 days extension of the timeline for primaries and the nomination of candidates. The incumbent Honourable member representing Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency, Beni Butmak Lar has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), primaries for the constituency. Honourable Lar polled a total of 70 votes to defeat her rivals Mr. Gidoen Nanden who scored 1 vote while 3 delegates were absent at the voting center. The Chairman of primary election committee for Langtang North and Langtang South Federal Constituency, Mr. Solomon Abdong declared Hon. Lar winner of the election having polled 70 votes out 74 votes. Felix Morka, announced the postponement in a statement issued on Sunday night, although no reason was given for the change in plan. Reports from Premium Times indicate that the account was opened by Useni in 1986 with the name Tim Shani. In 2016, a probe by the National Security Adviser under then president Obasanjo indicted him. Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the creation of 268 Districts and Village Areas as well as 2 Chiefdoms. He also restored 3 others (2nd Class) as well as approved the grading of 5 others on 3rd Class Status. The details released by the Secretary to the Government of the State Prof. Danladi Atu indicate that the newly created Chiefdoms are Lamba Chiefdom in Wase Local Government (3rd class) and Menkaat Chiefdom in Shendam Local Government (3rd class). Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 16, 2022 arrested serving Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris in connection with diversion of funds and money laundering activities to the tune of N80billion (Eighty Billion Naira) only. The Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates. The funds were laundered through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja. Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State on Saturday 14th May 2022 attended the annual cultural festival of the Tarok nation otherwise known as "Ilum O'Tarok" which took place at the Langtang Mini Stadium.  The Governor who was Special Guest of Honour at the event assured the people of Tarokland and the citizens of Plateau State that his administration will do its best to complete all ongoing projects.  According to the Governor, so much has been achieved in completing many abandoned projects inherited from the immediate past administration and others before it as well as new ones initiated.
