Akawu who was billed to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 State Assembly election was said to have attended a new year event in the constituency on Wednesday, January 4, 2022. A socio-cultural group, known as Tangale Community Overseas (TCO) has called on Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state to set up a committee to investigate the unprovoked attacks on Tangale communities in recent weeks, and stop claiming reprisal, as Tangale people have no history of carrying out attack on any community. General Secretary of the group, Lamela Umaru Lakorok, made the call when TCO visited the two affected communities, Amtawalam and Pobawure, to commiserate with them over the attacks, and the group donated the sum of one Million Naira to victims of the attacks to aid their plights.
